mental health week logo150A Nouwen Network, a cross-denominational outreach, invites individuals and faith communities to join a ‘Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding’ on the Sunday of, or immediately following World Mental Health Day, 10th October.

Workplaces of church organisations and schools are invited to participate in the Day of Prayer on a weekday of choice during Mental Health Week (which is always held to coincide with World Mental Health Day).

As World Mental Health Day falls on a Monday this year, Mental Health Week will start on Sunday 9th October in many places. It may better suit some faith communities to particularly focus on prayers for mental health issues in their worship on Sunday 9th instead of Sunday 16th.

This year, people throughout Australia will participate in a ‘Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding’ on Sunday 16th October. You are encouraged to begin to plan now to be a part of this effort to promote pastoral sensitivity to, and inclusion of, all whose lives are affected by mental health issues.
