Josephite novice Jane Maisey was featured in the Herald Sun's Sunday magazine, Stellar, along with two other young religious in formation, which explored their reasons for joining religious life.
The article focused on their individual vocation stories, such as Jane's who was previously working as a graphic designer and snowboarding instructor. The article also featured Marcus Goulding who is in his seventh year at the seminary and Amy McCabe of the MGL sisters.
The article highlighted the increase in vocations at a time when the Australian Catholic church has been deeply shaken by clergy-related child sexual abuse. It quotes Father Brendan Lane, rector of Corpus Christi College in Melbourne, who says the Royal Commission has done a great service. “The focus on abuse has brought to the fore what the church is doing about it. We have rid ourselves of a criminal element.”
