Work of religious in Parramatta honoured

Sr Monica Armstrong sgs groupThe service and dedication of religious in the Diocese of Parramatta were recognised in the recent awarding of diocesan honours, which unveiled two new awards this year, reports Catholic Outlook.

Good Samaritan Sister Monica Armstrong was awarded the Diocesan Medal of Honour in recognition of her compassion and dedication to her parish of St Matthew’s in Windsor and St Thomas Aquinas Primary School in Springwood.

Mercy Sister Joyce Vella of the St Anthony of Padua Parish, Toongabbie, and Mary, Queen of the Family Parish, Blacktown was honoured for her inspirational commitment to these parishes and her efforts during the inception and development of the Mamre Project under the auspices of the Sisters of Mercy Parramatta.

Sr Pauline Marie Wong of the Sisters of St Paul de Chartres who ministers to the Chinese Chaplaincy in the Diocese was recognised for her tireless and inspirational ministry to the Chinese Chaplaincy, encouraging and passionate in her example of serving the community.
