Leadership news: October 2016

hands in circleWe at CRA wish our friends well in their new roles as we summarise leadership appointments during this period.

Sister Pauline Robinson was elected Minister General of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. Also on the General Leadership Team are Marie Puleo (United States), Danielle Julien (Canada), and Rosella Lasi (Papua New Guinea). Sr Pauline served for three terms as Provincial Minister in Australia. She will leave Australia for Rome in mid October to begin a five year term in her new role.

Presentation Sister Sue Richardson from the Lismore community has been appointed Vicar for Religious for the Archdiocese of Melbourne by Archbishop Denis Hart. She has been the director of the Heart of Life Centre, Box Hill from 1993-2001 and from 2008-2013, leading seminars and contributing to Siloam, the program for Spiritual Directors. Sue has been Novice Mistress for the Presentation Sisters and served as Congregation Leader, 2002-2007. At the time of her appointment, she had been serving as chaplain at the Yarra Theological Union.

Father Chris McPhee msc, presently serving as one of the Assistants General in Rome, has been elected Provincial Superior of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart Australia. Because of Chris' membership in the General Council, Fr John Mulrooney msc will continue as Provincial until July 1st 2017. CRA Justice Coordinator, Fr Claude Mostowik msc, was also elected as one of three Delegates for the MSC General Chapter in Rome in September 2017.

Archbishop John Ribat msc of Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea was also one of the 17 new cardinals named by Pope Francis on 9 October 2016. He is the first MSC Cardinal.

Social justice advocate, Jesuit Frank Brennan, was also appointed Chief Executive Officer of Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA), while fellow Jesuit and Director of Jesuit Refugee Service Australia, Fr Aloysious Mowe, was appointed the Director of Advocacy and Communications at the JRS International Office in Rome. Fr Mowe will continue to serve as Country Director until February 17.
