rrr mission conferenceReview Reimagine Renew: Mission making a difference in a changing world

A national conference, in Melbourne, 24-26 February 2016

‘We are called constantly to improve and to grow in rapport and wisdom, in order to fully carry out mission’ - Pope Francis

‘Review, Reimagine, Renew: Mission making a difference in a changing world’ aims to provide valuable opportunities for reflection and spiritual development, and to build capacity in our Catholic community and beyond to manage change for the common good.

Why is this important? Catholic social services are not, in the words of Pope Francis, ‘immortal, immune or indispensable’. There is rapid change in the environment in which Catholic social services operate: changes in the Church, organisational profile, Australian society, and the relations between Government, not-for-profits and now for-profit providers.

There is a need then to take time out to reflect on a challenging environment; and to do this with current and future leaders, practitioners and supporters who are all actively responding to the Gospel call to build a more compassionate and just society. Conference content will include Catholic Social Teaching in action, and securing new forms of social investment for mission-impact.

This not-to-be-missed conference will offer opportunities for all to interact, listen and reimagine. The conference will equip attendees to approach renewal in social services in the broader Church innovatively in a changing environment.

“This is a great opportunity for the grass roots of the Church to gather with Catholic Social Service leaders, and practitioners at the coalface, to discuss the challenges we all face in our communities that are impacting so heavily on the most vulnerable in our society”, said Denis Fitzgerald, Director of Catholic Social Services.

A wide range of keynotes, panel discussions and stimulating workshops for mission-impact will include John L Allen (renowned US-based journalist and author), Julie Edwards (Jesuit Social Services) and Tony Nicholson (Brotherhood of St Laurence).
