Dominicans usher in celebrations for 800th anniversary

Dominican Melb 800The Dominican family worldwide ushered in the Jubilee of the 800th anniversary of the the Order of Preachers on the weekend of 7 November 2015.

The motto for the Jubilee, celebrating the Dominican order from 1216 to 2016, is "Go and preach!"

The opening mass was celebrated at the Basilica of Santa Sabina in Rome, which was attended by Sisters Margaret Cameron and Ann Keys from the Dominican Province of Eastern Australia and the Solomon Islands.

In Australia, the Dominican family celebrated in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Maitand, Solomon Islands and New Zealand through liturgy, masses and special meals.
