CathNews, Australia’s Catholic daily online news service, celebrates the Year of Consecrated Life with a photo competition and a series of panel discussions on religious life, “Evenings for the Year of Consecrated Life.”

The Evenings are organised by Church Resources and the Australian Catholic University, made possible through the sponsorship of Catholic Church Insurance and the assistance of Catholic Religious Australia. They will be held in Sydney on Wednesday 15 April 2015, Melbourne on Tuesday 19 May 2015, and Brisbane on Tuesday 16 June 2015. There will be four speakers on each panel with a mix of religious women and men discussing the vibrant possibilities of different vocations and ministries. More details on the event will be advertised on CathNews from late February. Bookings are required as places are limited.

The CathNews photo competition asks its Australian readers to send in a photo of their favourite religious and share some information about this person. The photo must be of a person from a religious congregation –a family member, a teacher, a medico or nursing sister, a health carer, a missionary – anyone in consecrated life who has been a positive role model, friend, or mentor.

Entries close on April 6, and voting on favourite entries will also be done on CathNews' Facebook page before CathNews makes a final decision on the winner.

To join the competition and for the chance to win an iPad Air, email your photo to This email address is being protected from spambots. If the person is still living, please ask if they will allow their image to be submitted for this competition, and write up to 100 words about them and your relationship with them.
