Religious' contributions recognised in Australia Day 2015 honours

ausflag150Among recipients of Australia Day 2015 honours were Religious who were awarded medals of the Order of Australia (OAM). Among them was Jesuit Father Vincent Coleman of Wollstonecraft  who was recognised for his services to the Catholic Church of Australia as well as his long involvement with refugee support organisations, and his volunteer work assisting refugees with resettlement of Australia.

Sister Veronica Anne Gallagher rsm of Maclean was honoured for her service to music education, and to the Catholic Church in Australia. A member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Grafton Congregation since 1971, she is the Cultural Officer of the Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea since 2013.

Brigidine Sister Patricia Nagle of Maroubra who has spent many years as a volunteer supervisor and teacher and taught at Maroubra's St Aidan's Primary School was also awarded a medal of the Order of Australia.
