pope francis pray150Pope Francis has instituted the 1st of September as World Day of Prayer for Creation, joining the Orthodox Church as it has done since 1989. This day of prayer opens the Season of Creation, celebrated from September 1 to October 4 (Feast of St Francis).

According to Pope Francis, “The annual World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation offers to individual believers and to the community a precious opportunity to renew our personal participation in this vocation as custodians of creation, raising to God our thanks for the marvellous works that He has entrusted to our care, invoking his help for the protection of creation and his mercy for the sins committed against the world in which we live.”

The Global Catholic Climate Movement (GCCM), a global network of Catholics responding to Pope's call to action in the Laudato Si' encyclical, is inviting everyone to pray with Pope Francis through a Facebook Event. GCCM also offers prayers, parish activities, ecumenical events, a call to action and other resources for use throughout the day.
