Catholic Religious Australia recently signed a statement from leading NGOs and civil society organisations to support the unprecedented public stand taken this month by Australian health experts on coal and health, putting the evidence of coal’s health impacts squarely on the national agenda as a top-tier issue.

Together with other organisations, CRA was among those alerting and educating the public on coal and health, in the same way that health leaders raised the alarm on tobacco. This move was in support of an open letter from health experts, doctors, a Nobel Laureate and heads of major health organisations like the Public Health Association calling on Australasia's largest radio network, ARN, to drop its sponsorship deal with Big Coal lobby group, NSW Minerals Council.
