Abbot Placid Spearritt OSB, the much loved and highly respected Abbot of New Norcia, died unexpectedly at Ampleforth Monastery, Yorkshire, England, on October 4. He was buried in New Norcia Cemetery on October 21, having lead a community that had been in crisis into a new and unexpected future.
