Welcome to the new website for Catholic Religious Australia and its related new e-journal, pathways!

Both these exciting new forms of communication will provide refreshing and innovative insight into the work of more than 175 Religious Congregations based in Australia.

Both this website and pathways promote the contemplative and prophetic service offered through the ministries and lives of more than 8000 Australian Religious at home and abroad.

Religious are called to be prophets who first listen, contemplate and then speak, said Benedict XVI to Religious leaders in Rome, in May, this year. Prophets must both encounter God and communicate clearly the needs of our time, whether by speech or by action.

A prophetic dimension to the Church, said the Second Vatican Council, is a particular gift expected of Religious, making the life of the Church more vigorous and fruitful.

That Council called Religious to renew their lives by returning to the sources of all Christian life, to the original inspirations behind each Religious community, and to adjust to the changed conditions of our time.

This website and the e-journal will give an insight into how this transformation, called for by the Council 40 years ago, is being lived out today.

We are nurtured and guided by the stories we hear. In pathways especially, but also within the website, you will find good stories that will encourage your own contemplative and prophetic service of others.
