Archbishop Ambrose Battista De Paoli,
Priest of the Archdiocese of Miami and
Apostolic Nuncio to Australia dies.

Archbishop Ambrose Battista De Paoli, ordained a priest for the Diocese of Miami on December 18, 1960 died early Wednesday morning (October 10th).
Archbishop DePaoli, 73 not only, locally served the Catholic Church in South Florida but also worldwide. He was a priest for 46 years and a bishop for 23.
Archbishop De Paoli entered the Diplomatic Service ofthe Holy See in 1966 and served in the Apostolic Nunciatures in Zambia, Venezuela, Canada and in the Secretariat of State, Vatican City. On November 20, 1983at the Cathedral of St. Mary's in Miami, Archbishop De Paoli was consecrated an Archbishop when he became a Nuncio.
The Episcopal Ordination took place at the hands of Cardinal Secretary of State Agostino Casaroli. Archbishop De Paoli was also appointed Titular Archbishop of Lares and Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka.
He has also served in South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia. In 1997 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Japan until being reassigned in 2004 to Apostolic Nuncio to Australia.
Archbishop De Paoli spoke English, French, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
